On June 21st, the first Energy for All Investors forum took place at ADB Headquarters in Manila.
After the Welcome Remarks EFAIF 21June2011(Deputy Director General, Private Sector Operations Department of ADB), and introduction of the investor forum approach, presentations were divided into three sessions.
Session 1 featured project models that are replicable and regional in scope. These are funded and implemented by partnerships between development agencies and nonprofit organizations with a view that once the financial and institutional barriers are addressed, private enterprises can take over and sustain the model.
- Power for Rural Poor – Grameen Shakti & ILO
- Iconic Island Project – Hivos
- Augmenting Mobile Phone Towers for Village Electrification Using the Bushlight India Model – CAT Projects
- Market-led Improved Cook Stove Development in South Asia – SNV
- Husk Power Systems
Session 2 highlighted financing mechanisms that make funding more accessible to a wide spectrum of organizations in the access to energy space. These mechanisms vary greatly, from funds that are focused on developing the supply chain of a specific industry to online platforms that facilitate regulated interaction between investors and project developers.
- Impact Investment Exchange Asia
- Nexus Fund – Nexus Carbon for Development
- Oasis Energy Solar for All Fund – Solar for All, Canopus Foundation, Ashoka, Bamboo Finance, BlueOrchard
- Asian Rural Biogas Facility – Energy for All Partnership (ADB, KfW, SNV)
During the last session, project developers who participated in the Energy for All Marketplace had the opportunity to make a pitch about who they are and what they do.
- Emergence BioEnergy
- Tough Stuff Solar in the Philippines – Asian Social Enterprise Incubator (ASEI), Inc.
- Barefoot Power
- Kamworks
- Cygnus Power
The event concluded with the Energy for All Marketplace – a poster session for all projects in the Energy for All Partnership pipeline.
