Norway hosts high level energy conference on energy access and finance

The high-level segment of the Energy for All: financing access for the poor conference hosted by the Government of Norway in cooperation with the International Energy Agency (IEA) took place in Oslo on 10 October 2011. It convened a broad range of stakeholders including the UN Secretary-General, heads of government, government ministers, and representatives of international organisations, the public and private sectors, financial institutions, civil society and academia. The conference examined ways of mobilizing sufficient financial resources to achieve access to energy for all by 2030. This is a vital aspect of the wider challenge of securing sustainable energy for all.

During the conference, the World Energy Outlook  (WEO) 2011 published by IEA was first presetned.  The Outlook which is titled “Energy for All Financing Access to the Poor,” tackles the critical issue of financing the delivery of universal modern energy access.  The Special excerpt of the WEO 2011 can be downloaded here.
